Hi!  I’m Joy Kirton, also known by my moniker “Jobella” - a proud Barbadian Graphic Designer and self-taught multimedia artist based in Toronto.

From as far back as I can remember, art has always been my passion. I would turn any envelope or piece of paper into a canvas for my imaginative doodles and drawings. This lifelong love for creativity inspired me to pursue certification in Graphic Design from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2016, following my graduation from the University of the West Indies.

In 2018, I took a leap of faith and founded Design Geek Studios to expand my creative boundaries. Through this platform, I’ve been able to craft visual identities that authentically tell my clients’ stories through logos and marketing materials. During the pandemic, I reconnected with traditional art forms, rediscovering and deepening my love for painting. This journey has allowed me to seamlessly integrate traditional and digital techniques into my work. My portfolio and expertise has expanded to include murals, branding, social media design, portraits, art classes and so much more.

My artistic journey reflects my dedication, resilience, and continuous growth. I am constantly inspired by the strong community that raised me and I take great pride in the roots that I was birthed from.
